Mayor Merrill's Message:

HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYONE,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family. It seems that Thanksgiving much of the time gets lost between Halloween and Christmas. Thanksgiving helps us focus on all the things we are grateful for in this world and in our local community. I am grateful for all our City Team Members who keep things going and running so well for all of us. There are so many facets of keeping city services functioning properly that we often forget about those who are “in the trenches” (many times literally!) keeping all our systems up and running and all the services and conveniences we enjoy running smoothly. Thank you to all of you!

I love to listen to our local KBYI radio station while I’m getting ready in the morning. They play very uplifting music and inspiring talks and this morning the Narrator was talking about “gratitude”. He reminded me that gratitude is timeless. It helps us see the world in a better light. I am so grateful for all of you whether you are a Rexburg City Team member or a citizen of this wonderful community. I am grateful for who you are and for what you do to contribute to our community to help keep it the wonderful place it is. Gratitude is a gift for all seasons, and I hope we can all remember to show and express our thankfulness to others throughout the year.

I enjoyed attending the annual Thanksgiving Choir Concert at the Tabernacle Civic Center. It was a wonderful way to start off the day! Thank you to all who give of their time and talents to make this a wonderful community event. I would be remiss if I failed to mention my appreciation to a great friend of the Tabernacle, Mr. Roger Harris, who passed away early Thanksgiving morning. Roger took great care of that building for many years and his wife Gwyn Harris has been the organizer of the concert for as many years as I can remember. Thank you so much to the Harris’ and all others who contribute to this great community event.

Speaking of contributing, we are conducting a fundraising campaign to restore the Tabernacle and add an annex to the side of it to make it more functional. This requires a large amount of funding to accomplish. If you are willing to contribute to this cause, please contact me at City Hall or Matt Nielsen to make arrangements.

There are many things happening in the City of Rexburg. Please check RexburtsArts and RexburgRaces Facebook pages and the City of Rexburg website “Calendar of Events” or City of Rexburg App for things to do with your family.

Thank you for being great citizens!

Sincerely, Mayor Jerry Merrill Life is Great……….in Rexburg, Idaho!!!
