Why is my water use so high, and what can I do about it?
Water meters are read every month starting April 15th and ending October 15th of each year. If water use jumps significantly and the property owner hasn't been sprinkling their landscaping, they may want to submit a request to re-read their water meter and check for a leak. In their home, they can check for running toilets, water softeners, and dripping faucets - inside and out. If the resident has the City's Water Department come to the home to check for a leak, it is helpful to be present in case of a problem. If there is a leak, the Water Department can help isolate whether it is in the lines running from the meter to the house, or inside. This is a service provided at no extra cost to the customer.

Why wasn't my garbage picked up?
There may be a number of reasons why garbage was not picked up. To ensure the best service available, here are some tips that will help.

Have the garbage container out by the curb before 7:00 am, even if the garbage isn't normally picked up that early. Sometimes there are substitute drivers or special circumstances that arise, and the routes don't get picked up the same as they usually do.
Make sure there is at least 3 to 4 feet of clearance around each container. The sanitation truck can't fit the pickup arms around the container unless there is enough room for them.
Don't put items in the containers that the trucks can't handle - for example, branches, building materials, sod, gravel, dirt, concrete, motor oil, white goods, metal of any kind etc. Repairs to fix damage done to the sanitation trucks due to prohibited materials may be charged to the individual disposing these items. Remember not to place containers under trees, overhead wires, etc.
Make sure the garbage container is upright with the opening facing the street.
